About our Casement Windows...
Affordable Timber Windows has refined its casement windows to exceed expectations of customers and requirements for the UK market, climate and traditional English style.
We offer several styles of casement windows which mostly open outwards: Flush 92 mm frame, a Stormproof 66mm frame or a Tilt and Turn casement which is the only one that opens inside. The Flush style is by far the most popular as many say the Stormproof style looks like PVC so we do not make so many of these. Of course if you need something different to what you see here, we can completely custom make products for you if you can provide some photos and technical drawings of what you would like.
Please refer to our “materials” page, or click here, to see what we use to make these windows for you or continue below for specifics on our casements.
Security & Furniture:
Locking systems:
Our Shootbolt espagnolette locking system is manufactured from ferretic stainless steel and provides exceptional levels of security through an extremely effective combination of mushroom headed steel cams and Steel Shootbolts.
Hinge Choices:
Friction stays: Tested to 25,000 cycles for both side and top hung casement windows, you are ensured of reliable quality from Mila UK and Affordable Timber Windows Ltd.
Butt Hinges: Should you prefer a more traditional look we also offer Butt hinges in Chrome or Gold/Brass.
Handles:
Our Espag handles are offered in a choice of Chrome, Gold/Brass or White. Please check the shape upon ordering, sometimes they are straight (inline) or off set (cranked).
Glazing & Materials:
To ensure the customer gets the best possible sightline and waterproofing properties we now glaze all windows we make with silicone on both sides. Our beads are made with a slight rebate to allow a small amount of room for the silicone to sit, this greatly improves the sightline and eliminates bulky gaskets that don't seal very well in the corners and can cause problems later on. We find silicone to be a much more flexible and rewarding option, both visually and technically, and especially when you have georgian bars.
Our Casements, as standard, are externally beaded and glazed to ensure traditional appearances are maintained and glazing drips can be used, this also allows for drainage should any water get in around your glass. On the inside, we secure the glass with a security glazing tape to ensure access can not be obtained from the outside unless the glass is broken.
